Drake has announced the release date and cover art for his new album Scorpion.
Drake revealed on Instagram that his forthcoming album Scorpion release date is set for June 29. The Toronto rapper also revealed the cover art for the project which is a black-and-white photo of himself gazing away from the camera. The cover art also has his signature on it in grey. Drizzy revealed from last month that his new album will be dropping in June, but he didn’t reveal the exact date of the month until now.
Drake has been getting a beating on social media for the past few weeks following the release of Pusha T’s scathing diss track “The Story Of Adidon.” The Young Money rapper has been mostly absent from social media since then and this is his first post on Instagram since the track came out.
Scorpion is the follow-up album to Drake’s 2016 LP Views which has been certified four times platinum by the RIAA. Last year, Drizzy released what he dubbed as a playlist called More Life which is also certified platinum and was one of the biggest-selling projects last year. Most of us have been treating More Life like an album, but Drake insists that he released it as a playlist and didn’t even bother to submit it for Grammy consideration.
Fans of Drake and of hip hop will be lining up to hear what he has to say on this album given the fact that he didn’t bother to respond to Pusha T diss. The beef is officially squashed but a lot of fans are thinking that there is some smoke coming on Scorpion. We’re told by folks close to OVO that Drizzy will more than likely have nothing further to say about the Pusha T and Kanye West situation. He simply feels like its just not worth his time anymore and that’s also a reflection of how some of his more hardcore fans feel.
