Eminem is now the highest selling rapper in the history of the Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA.
Not only is Eminem the highest selling rapper of all-time on the RIAA, but he is also the second highest selling artist behind Rihanna who holds the top spot with 121 million certified units sold, which is a combination of singles sold and streaming equivalent units sold. Em sold 107.8 certified units sold according to a recent tweet by the RIAA. Consider that Eminem released far less music than artists these days and he is outselling them.
This also means that Slim Shady is outselling major pop stars like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry who currently holds the number three and four spots. In February, the RIAA issued over 40 new digital single certifications and that helped tip the scale for him that put him in his new position.
Eminem and Rihanna, who holds the top two spots, are also frequent collaborators including on songs like “Love The Way You Lie,” which has been certified 12X platinum. Eminem’s classic single “Lose Yourself” has been certified 10X platinum, which means it sold over 10 million copies and is now certified diamond.
In contrast, other rappers fall way behind Eminem with Drake being the closest with 55 million certified units sold, Kanye West with 51.5 million units sold, and Lil Wayne 32 million units sold.
