J. Cole is now the artist with the highest number of streams for a song on it’s opening day thanks to “KOD.”
The previous record was held by Taylor Swift who clocked 3.8 million streams for her single “Look What You Made Me Do” on its opening day on Spotify. The title track for J. Cole‘s new album shattered that record clocking in 4.2 million streams on the first day it was released on the platform. Another track from “KOD” titled “Photograph” holds the fourth spot with 3.55 million streams on the first day. Kendrick Lamar‘s “DNA” holds the third spot with 3.6 million streams and The Weeknd‘s “Call Out My Name” round out the top five with 3.50 streams.
Surprisingly, Drake doesn’t have a song in the top five, but over at Apple Music he is the king. Drizzy also holds the top two spots on Billboard Hot 100 with “God’s Plan” at No. 2 and “Nice For What” at No. 1.
We all thought that “1985 (Intro to ‘The Fall Off’)” would’ve been the top song on the album “Kids On Drugs” because of the buzz it created on Friday thanks to J. Cole’s taking shots at Lil Pump and other new wave mumble rappers. Nevertheless, all the songs on the album are worth listening and you can expect it to debut at No. 1 on Billboard 200 next week.
