T-Pain has some things to get off his chest following Quincy Jones tell-all interview.
The music legend did an interview this week with Vulture where he dropped some wild claims about people like Michael Jackson being a song thieve, and dating Ivanka Trump. Quincy spoke about being in the studio with T-Pain for a remake of Michael Jackson’s “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” featuring Robin Thicke the 2010 album Q: Soul Bossa Nostra. He says the rapper didn’t follow instructions in the studio and the song turned out to be a disaster.
T-Pain responded on Twitter saying that Quincy Jones is lying and is simply just mad at the world. “For the record I told my managers (at the time) and I told @QuincyDJones in his face “I don’t want to remake any of your past records because I know I’m gonna f**k it up. I’ll never be able to reach the greatest of MJ” it took them hours to pump me up to even go in the booth,” Pain wrote.
“And I still hated it when I came out of the booth. Then the song came out and it was even worse than it sounded in the studio. This is legit one of the reasons I don’t work with the managers I had anymore because if I said I was uncomfortable doing something they didn’t care,” the rapper added.
“But also to be real. It just seems like @QuincyDJones is pissed off at the whole world. I have nothing but respect for the guy so I don’t know why we didn’t hold the song or tell me exactly what he wanted when I kept taking the headphones off beggin for direction from the God,” he continues.
DJ Dan Roof says he was in the recording session and backs up T-Pain side of the story saying, “I was at That session. He def wasn’t giving much input…but he was super cool and we had some long convos about some crazy sh*t. I also def remember u not wanting to do the song and not wanting to f**k it up. random to single you out tho he gives gives 99 fux.”
