JAY-Z is one step closer to launching his own restaurant Hovino.
The hip hop mogul/entrepreneur already has his footprints in the entertainment business with his 40/40 club in New York City. Now he is looking to extend his business ventures into the lucrative food business, after all who doesn’t like to to eat, plus you could be among the first set of folks to eat at Hovino. JAY-Z filed a trademark for the brand which will be used in the “goods and services” industry
The trademark was filed by Jay’s company S. Carter Enterprises recently. The precise nature of the pending restaurant venture is not yet known, but the legal docs points to it being used in the area of “restaurant and café services, carry-out restaurant services, pubs, cocktail lounges, wine bars, and more.”
JAY-Z has also been busy extending his Roc Nation brand with his clothing line Paper Planes going all out into atletic gears like gym bags, jewelry, tour books, and a cosmetic line, TMZ reported. The site reported that the brand is looking to occupy space in department stores and a robust online shopping push.
Hov, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was honored last weekend with a Grammy icon award after being named a Salute to Industry Icons honoree. “We can pretend that we don’t care, but we really care, ’cause we seen the most incredible artists stand on those stages and we aspire to be that,” he said while accepting the award. “So I was like, I have to be here. That is the idea for us to all get involved and to push this thing further. For the people that come before us, it’s our duty. It’s our duty to make sure that, you know, not only are we making the greatest art, that we upholding and supporting the things that’s super real. I’m super humble, and I’m super appreciative of the Academy and everybody here tonight.”
