Mobb Deep‘s Prodigy died unexpectedly on Tuesday at the age of 42.
Hip hop is mourning one of its legends today and the entire community including rappers like Nicki Minaj, Nas, 50 Cent, Rihanna, and more are reacting to Prodigy’s death. In fact almost every big name in hip hop reacted to the sudden death of the New York rap legend. Prodigy was hospitalized last weekend after a performance in Las Vegas on Saturday night for the Art of Rap tour. He has been battling sickle cell anemia since birth but it’s still unclear of the disease ultimately lead to his death.
“Don’t want to believe he’s gone. Omg. RIP,” Nicki Minaj wrote on Instagram. Nas was perhaps one of the first rappers to break the news on social media writing, “QB RIP King P. Prodigy 4 Ever.” 50 Cent also reacted to the legendary Mobb Deep emcee by reflecting on a time when cops asked Prodigy to set him up by planting drugs or guns in his car.
Unbelievable. Rest in peace Don P. ?
