Fat Joe found a new home at Roc Nation after signing a new management deal with the label Jay Z founded a few years ago.
The rap legend issued a statement through his publicist on Wednesday confirming the new deal. Fat Joe is also set to drop his first major project this year since signing the deal. The album is a joint effort with Remy Ma titled Plata o Plomo, due for release on February 17.
Fat Joe and Jay Z had a beef in the late 1990s to early 2000s but after Hov unleashed a fiery verse on the remix for Joe and Remy Ma’s single “All the Way Up”, both sides officially made peace. That track eventually went on to reach No. 9 on the Billboard Hot R&B/HipHop Songs chart. The track also earned the Terror Squad rapper two Grammy nominations.
“I turned down some really really really big names for the remix,” Joe told Billboard. “Like, the biggest guys on Earth but was just like, yo, I wanna keep it New York.’
The Bronx rapper joined a long list of emcees to sign deals with Roc Nation including DJ Khaled, The LOX, Wale, and Yo Gotti. Something tells us that more rappers will be coming on board the label/management company.
