J. Cole is reflecting on Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a new conscious single “High For Hours.”
The North Carolina lyricist is riding high off the success of his new album “4 Your Eyez Only” which was certified gold this week by the RIAA. Once again he did it without a single feature on the LP. The rapper is already gracing us with some new music.
“High For Hours” tackles a number of topics including police brutality, politics, religion, and even the world’s most notorious terrorist Osama Bin Laden. “Don’t stop fighting and don’t stop believing / You can make the world better for your kids before you leave it,” J. Cole raps over a beat produced by Elite and Cam O’bi.
There are speculations that the new single is in tribute to President Obama final days in office. But this track couldn’t come at a better time on MLK Day and after Obama gave the rousing farewell speech in Chicago last week.
