Drake is off to a winning start if the new year. The Canadian emcee already picked up the most nominations for the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards nominees were announced today and Drake picked up 12 nominations. This has been a growing theme for Drizzy over the last few months with record numbers of nominations as the award seasons gets into high gear. The Young Money rapper was nominated for Song of the Year for his chart topping single “One Dance” featuring WizKid and Kyla. He was also nominated for Hip-Hop Artist of the Year which he is the high favorite to win. He is going up against rappers like Future, J. Cole, DJ Khaled, and Desiigner, who all had a great year.
“One Dance” will be competing in the Song of the Year category with some other huge hits last year like Sia and Sean Paul’s chart topper “Cheap Thrills” and more notable hits like twenty one pilots’ “Stressed Out.”
Drake is also up for trophies in other major categories like Best Music Video, Best Collaboration, three times for Hip-Hop Song of the Year, Best Lyrics and more. The Female Artist of the Year category includes Drizzy’s ex-girlfriend Rihanna going up against Adele, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, and Sia.
The 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards will be broadcast live on TBS on March 5th at 8 PM ET.
