Beyonce was the biggest winner at Sunday’s BET Awards. Not only did she win big, but she also gave the most well received performance of the night when she performed “Freedom” with Kendrick Lamar.
There is no doubt that Beyonce has been having a great year with the success of her recent album Lemonade and stirring up controversy with her “Formation” music video.

The pop megastar kicked off the awards show performing “Freedom” with Kendrick Lamar. With her female backup dancers strutting through the sound of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” famous speech, Beyonce kicked off her performance standing on stage in ankle deep water with explosions in the background.
The biggest surprised for everyone was when K.Dot hit the stage to add a new verse to the fiery single. “Revolution televised, hoping that you see the sign / Meet me at the finish line, 40 acres give me mine,” the Compton emcee raps.
Beyonce won awards in five categories at the BET Awards including the Centric Award for “Formation,” FANdemonium Award, and Best Female R&B/Pop Artist.
Other big winners includes Drake who picked up three awards, but was not at the show to collect them. Bryson Tiller also picked two awards and Nicki Minaj won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist for the seventh straight year. No surprise there.
They should seriously consider having a separate category for actual R&B acts.
