Vybz Kartel ‘KOTD’ Album Debut At No. 2 On Billboard Reggae Chart

Vybz Kartel new album “King of the Dancehall” debut at No. 2 on Billboard Reggae album chart this week.

The album was released on June 10 and sold 1,867 copies in the first week of release, according to Nielsen Music. Yes reggae album sales are usually that low these days.

This means that Vybz Kartel has the biggest first week sales since Beenie Man’s 2006 album “Undisputed.”

Elsewhere on the Billboard Reggae chart, Ziggy Marley slips to No. 3 after selling 616 copies over the last week. His self-titled album has since sold 8,028 copies and debut at No. 1 on the chart.

Alkaline’s new album “New Level Unlocked” slips to No. 9 from 7, while Rebelution “Falling Into Place” holds firm at No. 1.

This is Vybz Kartel second album to debut in the top ten since his incarceration. The dancehall star is currently serving a life sentence for a murder conviction.

  1. This is better than others who are able to tour and Promote their music but this shows that Reggae and more particular Dancehall has a Very Very Big problem, It is not Selling and Vybz is Dancehall’s biggest Superstar
