Kanye West new album “The Life Of Pablo” has finally make its mark on Billboard 200 album chart.
The project debut at No. 1 on the chart this week selling 94,000 equivalent album units with 28,000 of that pure album sales. “The Life of Pablo” also became the first album in history to top the 200 chart with majority of its sales from streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
Billboard reported that Pablo was streamed over 99 million times over the last week which means that is equivalent to 66,000 SEA.
On February 13, Kanye West released “The Life Of Pablo” exclusively on TIDAL which made it not available to other streaming service and this absent from Billboard until now. Ye has also made the album for sale through his website.
“Thank you to everybody who made The Life of Pablo the number 1 album in the world,” Kanye West tweeted.
This is also an important moment for Kanye West because “The Life of Pablo” became his 7th straight No. 1 album. Which means that every album that he released since his 2005’s Late Registration debut at the top of the Billboard chart. The only project that didn’t made it all the way to No. 1 for Kanye West his debut effort The College Dropout, released in 2004 and peaked at No. 2.
Big Sean and Jhené Aiko’s Twenty88 album debut on the chart at No. 5 selling 49,000 units in its first week.
