Tarrus Riley got a taste of Billboard Hot 100 success thanks to a single that he is featured on with Major Lazer and Ellie Goulding.
The track “Powerful” was released this summer on Major Lazer’s new album Peace is the Mission. Diplo is known to mix reggae and other genre like pop to bring a unique sound and he did just that with this track.
“Powerful” made it’s debut on Billboard Hot 100 at No. 95.
“I love how they blend different genres of music,” the reggae crooner said. “I am all about that. I love to change things up. Major Lazer has that vibe, and that’s what I admire about them the most.”
Tarrus Riley says that the track came about while he was in Miami working on another project and met up with Major Lazer.
“JukeBoxx Productions and Major Lazer have always been like family,” Riler added. I went to Florida to work on another project with Major Lazer, and we ended up completing that project real quick, so there was time to work on other projects. I put down my part on the track, and then later, she (Ellie Goulding) did her thing and we created magic.”
