Drake and Future new mixtape What A Time To Be Alive or simply “WATTBA” debut at No. 1 on Billboard 200 chart with 375,000 copies sold in its first week of release.
The duo dropped the joint project to rave reviews last week Sunday, signalling another hip hop blockbuster album for both Drake and Future this year.
Billboard reported that 334,000 units of the total sales were pure album sales. What A Time To Be Alive was expected to sell 500,000 copies in the first week of release but that number was later revised. Still 375,000 units is a lot for album these days when album sales are dismal.
“Two #1 albums n the same year. Beyond grateful,” Future wrote on Instagram along with a photo of himself with his hands in the air.
Two #1 albums n the same year. Beyond grateful ??
The last time any rap star achieved two No. 1 albums in one year was when Jay Z did it in 2004.
Drake mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late debut at No. 1 with 495,000 copies sold and has since been certified platinum. Future also debut at No. 1 with his DS2 LP.
