Bob Marley’s 50 million fans on Facebook will get a chance to watch the reggae icon’s new documentary film, Marley, on the world largest social media site.
The film, directed by Irish filmmaker Kevin McDonald will stream simultaneously on Facebook during its theatrical run. There will be a US$6.99 rental fee starting April 20. Part of the proceeds from Facebook sales will go towards the Save the Children organization, a charity for needy children.
Facebook joined the digital movie race last year, competing with the likes of Youtube, iTunes, Netflix and Hulu.
The documentary opens in Jamaica this Thursday, April 19 at Emancipation Park in St Andrew, and opens in select U.S. theaters on Friday, April 20.
