The funeral service for the late singing legend Whitney Houston will be held on Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church in New Jersey where she first showcased her talents as a child.
Houston’s body was flown to the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, N.J. yesterday. The owner of the funeral home said the funeral will be held at noon Saturday and there will be no wake or public viewing.
Houston, 48, died Feb. 11 at a hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., just hours before she was set to perform at producer Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy Awards bash.
Police report say her unconscious body was found underwater in her hotel room bathtub.
An autopsy was performed on Sunday that confirmed there was no foul play. However, it could be weeks before the coroner’s office completes toxicology tests to establish the cause of death.
Los Angeles County Coroner’s assistant chief Ed Winter said there were bottles of prescription medicine in the room she was found. “There weren’t a lot of prescription bottles. You probably have just as many prescription bottles in your medicine cabinet.”
Houston left behind one child, daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, 18, from her marriage to singer Bobby Brown.
