The reverend behind the wedding of reggae star Jah Cure and wife Kamila McDonald, Rev. Father Haile Malakot Dobson, is stepping forward to address claims that the wedding was illegally performed.
Last month, head of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church (EOC) of Jamaica, Reverend Father Wolde Dawit issued a statement claiming that the ceremony was illegally carried out by Rev. Malakot Dobson.

In a statement issued to Urban Islandz from the office of Rev. Father Haile Malakot Dobson, the was in fact legally carried out under the Ethiopian Orthodox Church of Jamaica.
“Father Haile Malakot Dobson is the Chief Priest and Administrator of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Jamaica appointed and ordained by His Eminence Abuna Yesehaq. Further he is an official Marriage Officer of the Sovereign Island nation of Jamaica and thus is fully and legitimately qualified to baptize, give communion and marry whomsoever are baptized members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. In addition, the Administration of Father Malakot is fully recognized and accepted by the members of the church in Jamaica and in the Western Hemisphere.”
Rev Dobson said it was the Rastafarians who petitioned Haile Selassie to bring the Ethiopian Orthodox church to Jamaica.
Errol Anderson needs to remember how the church came to Jamaica. It was the Rastafarians who petitioned His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie for the church for over ten years. He sent His Eminence Abuna Yesehaq to Jamaica to teach and baptize all people, Rastafarians and the Afro-Centric Minded. All are welcome as long as they abide by the Teachings and Principles Of the Holy Ethiopian Orthodox Church; this is the Teachings of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie First.
Jah Cure and Kamila McDonald tied the knot last month in a lavish ceremony at the Tryall Clubs in Hanover.
