The Jamaica Film Academy’s annual Reggae Film Festival is set to take place May 23rd to 27th, at the Whitter Village in Ironshore Montego Bay.
In a message posted on its website, the Reggae Film Academy emphasize the scale of this year event that will include seminars and premieres.
“The REGGAE FILM FESTIVAL has continued to attract productions from all over the world that are part of a growing genre of films depicting aspects of Jamaican culture, music and history and the ways in which this music culture has impacted the world. The event includes premieres, seminars, competitions, new digital media work, live music performances and star-studded gala events.”
The 2011 Reggae Film Festival will celebrate also celebrate the birthday of Emperor Haile Selassie who will be honoured at the Opening Night Gala on May 23. On Mya 25th, the UN Year of African Descendants will be celebrated with a special programme of films, African Liberation Day.
