In an emotional interview with Barbara Walters, media mogul Oprah Winfrey opens up about her lesbian rumors.
Oprah Winfrey revealed her gratitude for close friend Gayle King, and addressed rumors of a lesbian romance going on between the two.
In a clip from Thursday’s 60 minute ABC special, showed on Wednesday’s “Good Morning America,” Oprah is seen crying as she speaks on her relationship with Gayle.
“She is the mother I never had. She is the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves,” said Oprah through tears. “I don’t know a better person.”
Oprah shared that she was brought to tears because she had never spoken her true feelings to Gayle herself.
“It’s making me cry because I’m thinking about how much I probably have never told her that,” she said.
The talk show queen also addressed the appalling rumors that she had a lesbian romance with her close friend.
“I’m not a lesbian. I’m not even kind of a lesbian,” she said. “And the reason why it irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I’m lying. That’s number one. Number two: why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life.”

Oprah will also be among the cast of an upcoming HBO film.
Oprah Winfrey will be starring in a new HBO film, produced by her Harpo Studios. The film will be an adaption of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Ruined,” where Oprah will play the madam of a Congolese brothel. The movie will also be written by the original play writer, Lynn Nottage.
“Ruined” concentrates on sexual violence and war through the perspective of several women affiliated with the brothel.
This film adaption had been a top priority for Oprah and Harpo since moving the company to HBO. Several other projects are underway as well, including a 7-hour ministries adaption of America: In the King Years, based on the Taylor Branch book trilogy.
