Jamaica. — Embattled dancehall deejay Bounty Killer was this morning granted bail when he appeared in the Kingston Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s court.
Killer whose real name is Rodney Pryce is charged for assault and unlawful wounding of his girlfriend Racquel Smith. Smith turned up at the Constant Spring Police station two weeks ago and complained that he beat her with a hammer, a mosquito repellant and a chain. Police reported that she was badly bruised and bloodied when she lodged the complaint and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
This morning Terrence Ballentine who is the lawyer for Smith, told the judge that his client is requesting the matter to go to mediation, and that she want to continue her relationship with the deejay. But Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey dismissed the request.
The judge, however, granted Killer bail in the sum of JM$500,000. Pryce will appear in court again on November 9.
