After two more of his associates copped plea deals this week, Young Thug accepted a plea agreement with the feds in his YSL Rico Trial.
The “Go Crazy” rapper, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, accepted the plea deal on Thursday (October 31) in a shocking move that saw the case inching closer to coming to an end. Young Thug, 33, pleaded NOLO contendere to two charges, including violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, WSBTV reported.
The case is the longest-running and one of the most controversial trials in Georgia’s history, with no end in sight anytime soon. Despite criticism from the judge for their handling of the case, the prosecution has managed to cut plea deals with several defendants, including Young Thug’s right-hand man, Gunna.
The feds arrested 28 people in May 2022 as the government built a Rico case against the YSL outfit. Prosecutors have argued that YSL (Young Slime Life) is a gang operating as a record label and say their main target is Young Thug, who they call the mastermind behind the operation. According to the feds, the alleged gang is responsible for several violent crimes in the metro Atlanta area.
Since the initial, several of Young Thug’s co-defendants have taken plea agreements in exchange for lighter sentences and their cooperation with the feds. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Rodalius Ryan, also known as Lil Rod, and Marquavius Huey, who goes by Qua, are the latest co-defendants to take plea deals in the case on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
Rodalius Ryan pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. He was facing ten years on that count alone, but the judge commuted his sentencing to time served. Ryan is also behind bars serving time for a murder case, which he is now appealing. His co-defendant Huey, on the other hand, was facing three life sentences but was sentenced to 25 years. However, as part of his plea agreement, he will only serve nine years.
Earlier this week, another of Young Thug’s co-defendants, Quamarvious Nichols, took a plea deal which saw him getting a significantly reduced sentence from possible life to 20 years. The deal dismissed all of the charges against him leaving one, conspiracy to violate the RICO Act. As part of his plea agreement, he will spend seven of the twenty years behind bars and the rest on probation. He was credited with two years of time served, so he will likely be out in five years.
Young Thug was offered a plea deal in the case and has now accepted it. However, his attorneys and the state could not come to a sentencing agreement, which means his fate is now in Superior Court Judge Paige Whitaker’s hands. The charges against the rapper each carries anywhere from five to several decades in prison.
