DDG announces breakup with Halle Bailey in a lengthy message posted on his Instagram account, leaving fans blaming Usher.
The couple were in attendance at Usher’s “Past Present Future” tour stop a week ago when the R&B legend attempted to feed The Little Mermaid actress with a cherry. DDG, who was next to Halle Bailey, quickly stepped in and snatched the cherry from Usher and instead fed his baby mother. Because of what transpired, fans of the two are blaming Usher for getting between them.
In his statement posted on his Instagram Story, DDG says he cherished the time he spent with Bailey, but he is now focusing on his individual career and co-parenting.
“Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he wrote. “This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared. Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”
Halle Bailey has yet to react to DDG’s statement nor has she released any statement about their breakup. The couple welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Halo, in January of this year. After months of denying her pregnancy, they announced at the top of the year that she gave birth to a baby boy, calling him a “miracle.”
In the meantime, some fans are calling out Usher for getting in between another couple, while others are suggesting that having a baby can be a difficult transition for any couple. “Should’ve let usher feed her the cherry if you was gone do all that,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Having a baby can break any couple up especially a young couple, but what are the odds that as soon as they went to a Usher concert they broke up.”
DDG and Halle Bailey had been dating for three years before calling it quits.
