After its impressive theatrical run last year in New York, Los Angeles, and Jamaica, the surprise indie hit film “Out the Gate” starring Paul Campbell and Oliver Samuels is announced to open for a limited engagement in Toronto, Canada Saturday April 28th. The urban action-drama also stars Everton (E-Dee) Dennis and Shelli Boone in a story that has captured the hearts of audiences wherever it has played.
The movie follows young Everton, who after tragic events in Jamaica, gets the opportunity to come to America to follow his dreams, and the challenges that ensue once he arrives. Paul Campbell (Shottas, Dancehall Queen) delivers a delightfully wicked performance as Badz, the Don of LA, and of E-Dee’s performance Karibbean Expression Magazine wrote, “…Dennis is mesmerizing.” Not since “The Harder They Come” has there been so much excitement about a Caribbean film as the Atlanta Daily World wrote the film appears to be “…on its way to becoming a classic.”
Driven by a hard-hitting soundtrack that includes new music from I-Octane, Beenie Man, Jadakiss, Styles P, Busy Signal, Turbulance, and more, the Carib Press wrote the musical numbers were a “highlight” of the film. The Village Brothers directed movie offers a their own twist on the rags to riches theme in a well rounded protrayal of the immigrant experience.
The Canadian theatrical release of the feature film is brought to Toronto by Wright-Sun World, in association with the films producers Far I Films. The all day screening will be held at the Toronto Underground Cinema, 186 Spadina Ave, Toronto, CA with show-times of 12:20 pm, 2:45, 5:00, 7:30, and 10:00pm. Tickets will be available online, at the box office, and at 647-625-6798. Following the screenings the official after party will be held at 6 Degrees Nightclub 2335 Younge St, Toronto, featuring a live performance by the star of the film E-Dee.
