Bounty Killer, Mavado Among Others Up For Lifetime Achievement Award

The Boston Most Elite Awards (BMI) will be honouring a number of Jamaican entertainers this year at their annual event.

The Boston Most Elite Awards is an event geared towards giving recognition to the people in the Boston urban nightlife community.

Organisers of the event said they will be honouring the artistes because of the respect and influence they have used to help shape and form Jamaican popular music.

Among artistes nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award are dancehall icon Bounty Killer, Pinchers, Mavado, I-Octane, Shaggy, Sanchez, reggae star Half Pint, John Holt, Sizzla, Tanya Stephen, and dancehall queen Lady Saw.

Khago, Tifa and Popcaan are nominated for the Contribution to Dancehall award.

In a press release to the media, organisers explain that the awardees were selected because of their dedication, enthusiasm, and influence in the music industry.

“They have stayed true to their origins throughout the years and laid the foundation for many of the younger entertainers, and yet still manage to sustain their positions as tremendous entertainers and continue to make great hits that both touch you and make you want to get up and dance,” the release said.

The ceremony will be held at Champagne Hall in Boston, Massachusetts.
