Tekashi 6ix9ine is facing life in federal prison following his indictment on Monday on six counts of gun, drugs, and racketeering.
The FBI is painting Tekashi 6ix9ine as a violent gang leader who is wreaking havoc in the Brooklyn area of New York. The rainbow-haired rapper often refers to himself as the King of New York, and perhaps there was some truth behind. Tekashi69 appeared in court on Monday afternoon with his attorney Lance Lazzaro as federal prosecutors read out the indictments.
Per a 17-page indictment, 6ix9ine and his ex-manager, Kifano Jordan, aka Shottie, are each facing six counts including the most serious one, discharging a firearm while committing a crime. That charge alone carries a maximum life in prison and a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years. PageSix reported that Tekashi 6ix9ine and his associates ran a gang operation called Nine Trey Bloods who are responsible for numerous armed robberies and murders in Brooklyn in a crime spree dated back from 2013.
According to the indictment, the rapper and his gang would target other rival gang members and take out hits on them to increase their standings and influence in the area. They would also take out their rivals to protect their turf and their massive drug operation. Their drug ring includes the distribution of heroin, fentanyl, furanyl fentanyl, MDMA, dibutylone and marijuana in the Brooklyn and Manhattan area.
“Members and associates of the Enterprise promoted and celebrated the criminal conduct of the Enterprise, namely narcotics distribution, acts involving violence, and the use of firearms, in music and on social media,” prosecutors said. “The purposes of the Enterprise included preserving and protecting the power, territory, and profits of the Enterprise through acts involving murder…and threats of violence.”
Two other of Tekashi69’s associates, Faheem “Crippy” Walter and Jensel “Ish” Butler, were also indicted and facing life in prison. Among the indictment includes a shooting that took place in July of this year in Bed-Stuy which left an innocent bystander nursing gunshot wounds.
