Dancehall artist 1SkiMask is the latest addition to Epic Records’ roster of artists.
The comedian-turn-deejay, formerly known as Valdomore, has been on the rise over the past year after seeing massive success with a handful of songs. At first, dancehall fans thought his entrance into the game was a gimmick, but quickly realized he was a force among the new generation.
Vice President of A&R at Epic Records, Tyshawn “Fly Ty” Johnson, who also heads Against The Grain Entertainment, announced the signing this week, crediting Tina, formerly Hoodcelebrityy, for introducing him to Jamaican culture.
“I never believed in putting myself in a box when it comes to Music,” Johnson wrote. “I Love all Genres of music. 1SkiMask says the deal with Against The Grain and Epic Records has been in the works for over a year. The deejay says the label took notice of his talent after the success of his debut single, “Dawkniss.” The song was released in April 2023 and has received over 3 million views on YouTube combined.
