Nothing is coming between Joycelyn Savage and R. Kelly, at least not anytime soon.
The former live-in girlfriend has done an about-turn and is back on the singer’s side. Savage was one of the women revealed to be in a long-term relationship and living with the convicted musician during the documentary exposé Surviving R. Kelly. Despite frequently defending the 52-year-old in interviews and in court, Savage posted on her Instagram account last month that it was time, to tell the truth about the relationship.
In a series of posts on Patreon, which is a paid platform directed at those in the creative industry, Joycelyn Savage exposed incidents of sexual and physical abuse, as well as allegedly being forced to have two abortions. The revelations were in contravention of a non-disclosure agreement she had been made to sign.
Now, the 24-year-old has sought to clarify the statements attributed to her — claiming that the Patreon account was entirely fake, and she had nothing to do with it.
In an emotional interview with TMZ, Savage said, “Please do not believe what you see and hear on social media. That is not my Instagram. Someone is impersonating me. I just want everyone to know we still support [Kelly] and we would never betray him. Me and [fellow girlfriend Azriel Clary] will forever love him.”
Savage further expanded on the hurt which the claims made by the supposed fake account had caused her.
“I would never in a million years hurt him like this. I would never do this,” she said. “It’s just really really sad that somebody would pretend to be me and put it out in the world and say that I’m a victim, that I am brainwashed, I’m a sex slave — it doesn’t get worse than that.”
In response to Savage’s interview, her family released a statement of their own in which they declared their belief that the sexual abuse claims made in the Patreon posts are, in fact, true, despite the account being fake.
