Ciara Will Host 2019 American Music Awards
After it was announced that iconic singer Alicia Keys will be returning as the host of the Grammy Awards in 2020, another R&B star landed a similar major hosting opportunity. Singer/dancer/songwriter Ciara will be hosting the 2019 American Music Awards later this month after appearing as a performer alongside Missy Elliott last year.
The “Goodies” singer made the announcement on her social media accounts Thursday and expressed her excitement. “I am so excited to finally share that I will be hosting this year’s @AMAs LIVE Sunday, November 24th, at 8/7c on ABC! Let’s go!” she wrote. This isn’t a new role for Ciara, who is married to NFL quarterback Russell Wilson, as she also hosted the Billboard Music Awards in 2016 alongside rapper Ludacris.
The AMAs also announced that New Orleans legend Big Freedia will be taking the stage alongside Kesha. The two recently collaborated on a new single “Raising Hell,” which they’ll likely perform. The performance lineup also includes Lizzo, Camila Cabello Taylor Swift, and more. Ciara continued to gloat about her new gig and posted, “We’re gonna have so much fun at the @AMAs! Your Host CC! Can’t wait.”
The 2019 American Music Awards will air live from Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 24th, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
