Lizzo says she sorry for putting a Postmates employee on blast.
Lizzo showed true queen behavior when she apologized for being not-so-nice to a Postmates food deliverer Tuesday. The “Truth Hurts” singer had put an employee on blast via Twitter for stealing her food and even passive aggressively threatened violence for it. “Hey @Postmates this girl Tiffany W. stole my food she lucky I don’t fight no more,” she said while posting a photo of the delivery woman.
The Detroit native received mixed reactions for blasting the woman’s name and face to her nearly 1M followers, a tweet she later deleted. Lizzo then swore to stay off Twitter for the day after she and the woman’s name went viral. But she eventually came back and issued an apology for her impulsive actions.
“I apologize for putting that girl on blast,” the 31-year-old songstress said Tuesday evening. “I understand I have a large following and that there were so many variables that could’ve put her in danger. Imma really be more responsible with my use of social media and check my petty and my pride at the door.”
Some fans applauded the move and the maturity it took to admit she was wrong. Others felt she did nothing wrong and that they would have reacted the same way had their meal been stolen. Either way, the internet got a kick out of the brief situation as memes based around the woman stealing Lizzo’s food were rolling up and down social media. Hopefully all involved have learned a valuable lesson.
