Chris Brown has officially filed a defamation lawsuit against his rape accuser who now faces years in prison.
The R&B singer received some bad press this week when a French model filed a police report against him accusing him of rape. Chris Brown was subsequently arrested on suspicion of rape and drugs but was set free after the story made mainstream media. Brown has since retained French attorney Raphael Chiche who already filed a defamation lawsuit against the unnamed female accuser.
According to Page Six, the singer’s accuser is facing up to five years in prison and a fine of 45,000 Euro. Under French statue, anyone making an accusation against another person that they know is false can face prison time and or the hefty fine. For Chris Brown, this is particularly damaging given his celebrity status and his years of legal troubles.
Brown’s female accuser gave an interview where she detailed the alleged rape saying it lasted for 25-30 minutes and it was brutal. She told police that it took place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Paris on January 16th. Nevertheless, she didn’t report it until two days after the alleged assault. Police conducted an interview and arrested the singer, one of his close friends, and his bodyguard. The three men were released by police 24 hours later.
Chris Brown has denied the allegations in a rant on Instagram where he told his fans “this b*tch lying.”
“I wanna make it perfectly clear. This is false and a whole lot of crap! Never for my daughter and my family this is so disrespectful and is against my character and morals,” he wrote.
