Update: The new song “Dancehall Prophecy” is now out and you can watch the video here.
Original: Mavado will be dropping his new song “Dancehall Prophecy” dedicated to his son tonight.
Mavado gave us a preview of his new song slated for release on Friday night, and the lyrics are telling. Earlier this week, Urban Islandz reported that Mavado is fearful for his son, who is currently behind bars. The Gullyside singjay decided to record a song letting his son and his fans know that he will never abandon him.
“Wish me little son could’ve seen and understand, nuff a them would love to see your father hang, shoot me in my back like they did Daddy Gan, big funeral like they did Radigan,” Mavado sings. In another snippet of the single, Vado addresses his critics, notably Bounty Killer and Vybz Kartel, who has been highly critical of him on social media in recent weeks.
The Mansion Records singjay says the delay was caused by some behind the scenes things that his team need to fix. “To my fans I know you been waiting but my team had to fix things right so tomorrow it’s out on all platforms and we have so much more music coming to you,” he said.
Mavado’s 16-year-old son is currently held in a juvenile detention center in Kingston without bond. He is facing charges ranging from murder and conspiracy to weapons possession.
