Gucci Mane is an Evil Genius, and the new album will prove it.
It turns out that Gucci Mane recorded a whopping 70 songs for his new album Evil Genius, but only a fraction of that will make the cut. Guwop did an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 radio on Apple Music yesterday where he shed some light on the project. Here is what we learned from the short interview. Evil Genius will see production from the likes of Metro Boomin, Honorable C.N.O.T.E., Southside, and some more well-known producers who have worked with the Atlanta rapper in the past.
Perhaps the most important takeaway is the fact that Gucci Mane revealed that he recorded as much as 70 sons for the album and will narrow it down to about 20. This means that he will still have 50 songs to drop one or two more albums before the end of the year.
“I picked maybe like 60 or 70 songs,” he told Zane Lowe. “I usually just take twenty songs and put them out but this time I really recorded a bunch of songs and then picked through them.”
As for the guest list, Gucci Mane says he got songs with Quavo, Offset, Kevin Gates, NBA YoungBoy, and 21 Savage. Since he is working with two of the three Migos rappers, it begs the question, where is that fire single with the legendary Takeoff.
Gucci Mane definitely took his sweet time with this album because this is the biggest gap we’ve seen between his releases since he left prison. Let’s see if the wait will worth it.
