JAY-Z release some more footnotes for his single “Kill Jay Z” off his new album 4:44.
The Roc Nation rapper has been releasing video clippings from the massive production over the last few weeks discussing the storyline with some famous faces. In the footnotes for “Kill Jay Z”, Van Jones, Trevor Noah, and Anthony Anderson open up about ego and the struggles of black men in America.
“I think your ego is always your best friend and your worst enemy,” Van Jones said. “If you’re an African American man then you have to have ego. If you have ambition then you have that engine of some ego to get you there and I think if you’re an African American man you have to have it twice because the grade is steeper the obstacles are bigger and if you’re not your own hype man then you don’t have a hype man.”
