Lil Jon has confirmed that presidential candidate Donald Trump called him “Uncle Tom” during a taping of the Apprentice.
Seems the list of accusations against the Donald just keep on piling up. Rumors of the alleged incident has been circulating for the last few days forcing Lil Jon to respond. Seems the incident started when the rapper purchased an Uncle Sam costume to promote some hair-care products, but when Trump saw it he started calling him Uncle Tom.
The Daily Beast reported that Trump called Lil Jon the offensive name repeatedly during the show’s taping. Producers had to step in and told him to stop using saying it.
“There are several takes in the footage of the dailies that has him trying to figure out the difference between ‘Uncle Tom’ and Uncle Sam,” one staffer told The Daily Beast. “He just couldn’t grasp that it was offensive… When [Trump] decides he wants to do something, that’s his way.”
“We kept trying to explain to [Trump] that that’s not a word you can use, that it’s offensive,” another Apprentice employee said.
Lil Jon posted a long message on Twitter confirming that Trump did in fact called him Uncle Tom. “When this ‘Uncle Tom’ incident happened on Celebrity Apprentice in the boardroom several of my cast mates and I addressed Mr. Trump immediately when we heard the comment,” he wrote. “I can’t say if he knew what he was actually saying or not but he did stop using that term once we explained it’s offensiveness.”
