Drake took a break from touring and flew into New York on Sunday just so that he can kiss Rihanna and presents her with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old,” Drake said before presenting Rihanna with her lifetime achievement award for her decade old career in pop music. “She’s one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life, I’ve looked up to her, even though she’s younger than me.”

Hip Hop soul legend Mary J. Blige gave the introduction for Rihanna telling the audience that she is a “little girl from a small island (Barbados) whose dreams came true.”
“Thank you Drake for that amazing speech,” she said at the end of her acceptance speech.
RiRi took the stage all of four times during the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. There is no doubt that she has had a hugely successful career and this year she saw a lot of success with her latest album ANTI going platinum in 24 hours. During her acceptance speech Rihanna thanks her family and her fans.
“My success, it started as my dream,” she said. “But now, my success is not my own. It’s my family’s, my fan’s, my country, for every women, black women, I have to thank you guys for supporting me over and over. Thanks to every director who’s taken a chance on my crazy ideas. There has been so much growth throughout the past 11 years.”
Rihanna also thanked the people who helped jump start her career like Jay Z and La Reid and last but not least her best friends Melissa Forde who she said accompanied her to America 11 years ago and is now at the VMAs with her.
For a moment it seems as if Drake was a bout to propose to Rihanna but then got cold feet.
