Vybz Kartel continues to baffle the dancehall community with his ability to stay so relevant despite being behind bars for close to five years now.
The former Portmore Empire head won two big awards at last weekend’s Youth Views Awards in Kingston including Favourite Artiste Male Local and Favourite Dancehall Artiste.
Vybz Kartel has been dominating dancehall airwaves for the last couple of years despite being incarcerated since 2011.
Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after serving 35 years. He and his co-convicts including his protege Shawn Storm have all maintained their innocence.
The deejay has filed an appeal.
Sources are telling us that a Vybz Kartel biopic could be in the works.
