Big Ship captain, Freddie McGregor, is the latest of a handful of reggae/dancehall artistes to announce upcoming novels.
The reggae veteran recently announced that he has been busy working on his debut novel, I Will Wait For You, with a tentative release date set for late 2012.
The novel will be distributed by Pageturner Publishing House, the same publishing company behind Miss Kitty’s ‘Good Girl Gone Bad,’ Macka Diamond’s ‘Bun Him and The Real Gangster Wife,’ and D’Angel’s ‘Love Triangle.’
Director of operations for Pageturner, Leesah Larmond, said writers have reap real rewards publishing their work through them.
“We are in the business of books. And like every project, the aim is to secure a profit and so far we have been very successful. Our distributors are very happy with us” said Leesah Larmond.
“We do not print limited amount of books as some other publishers do. We aim for thousands as we distribute islandwide in outlets including bookstores and pharmacies. We also go on book tours in the United States to ensure that our books does not stay on the shelf,” she said.
Dancehall star Vybz Kartel is gearing up to release his first book “The Voice Of The Jamaican Ghetto.”
