Vybz Kartel highly anticipated upcoming book “Voice of the Jamaican Ghetto” could land in the hands of fans as early as this month.
Sources close to the deejay told Urban Islandz that the book is ready for release and publishers want to have it out before the Christmas Holiday.
“We are currently finalizing some logistics ahead of the release,” the source said. “We are getting many calls and request for the book to be release. It should be available to the public possibly by the end of November.”
The book was initially planned for release next year, however, the “Cake Soap” deejay move up the release date to this year’s summer. According to the publicist for the book, the release date was missed as a result of the deejay’s busy schedule and recent legal troubles.
“The book has been in editors’ hands before the summer holidays and we have been waiting to block some promotional time with the ace deejay. However, (that) was not (possible) as a result of Kartel’s busy schedule with several performances and his reality television show ‘Teacher’s Pet’ and now (his) current legal situation derailed those plans,” the publishers statement said.
In the Voice of the Jamaican Ghetto, written by Vybz Kartel, speaks of political and socioeconomic issues affecting the people of the Ghetto. According to the publishers, Vybz Kartel speaks volumes of the Jamaica he envision and also opens up about his true feelings towards other dancehall artists.
“Readers will be surprised to read the things Kartel would have changed in his career and his true feelings about many other Reggae/Dancehall artistes; but most importantly, Kartel elaborates on the Jamaica he ‘visions’.”
