Hip Hop celebrity Rocsi Diaz and Reggae fusion artist Sean Kingston have both won themselves awards in the 5th Annual Libby Awards.
The award is sponsored by peta2, the world’s largest youth animal rights organization.
Rocsi was named Favorite Media Personality, while Kingston landed the award of the Most Animal-Friendly hip hop Artist in 2010.
In an interview with allhiphop Peta2 director Dan Shannon said music stars help a lot to fight animal abuse.
“When it comes to fighting animal abuse, peta2 and today’s hottest music stars are in perfect harmony. Rocsi Diaz has encouraged her fans to save lives by always adopting—and never buying—companion animals, and Sean Kingston has let dog guardians know that life on the end of a chain for a dog is no life at all.”
Visitors to the peta.com website helped determine the winners of the Libby Awards (Libby stands for Liberation).
In 2010, Rocsi, who co-hosts BET’s hit countdown show 106 & Park, was featured in a peta2 campaign to fight the animal population crisis by encouraging viewers and fans to adopt a cat or a dog.
Sean kingston was featured in a peta2 campaign that debuted on MTV’s show Styl’D. In Kingston’s ad, the singer/rapper urged dog guardians to keep their dogs inside, as opposed to chaining them to a leash and leaving the animals outside, exposed to the elements.
