After delivering a commendable performance to the over 30,000 in attendance at the recently concluded LIME Skool Aid concert at Jamworld, Portmore; Dancehall deejay Bramma has vowed to continue his thrust towards education.
Partnering with his management company on an educational initiative the S-Lock Entertainment recording artiste and his team last weekend visited the communities of Central Kingston where they donated hundreds of books and other well needed school supplies to students of all ages.
Bramma says though he is not from that particular community he saw the need to reach out to them and assist where possible. The move has been hailed as a step in the right direction by members of the wider Downtown Kingston community.
“I generally host a Back To School Treat in my community of Duhaney Park but this year I am trying to broaden the initiative by reaching out to other communities across Jamaica and from preliminary discussions with my management, Spoilers was identified as one of those we could render assistance to. Nonetheless I am planning something later in the year for my own community.”
Elaborating on the matter the artiste whose given name is Shawn Brammer added, “It is important to note that we as entertainers have a responsibility to help in nation building and moulding the next generation. They are one of the largest consumer groups of our music so it’s only right that if they help to make us into the stars that we are, we should be able to positively contribute to them as they pursue their educational endeavours.”
Currently promoting the singles, ‘Gorilla Dreadlocks Rasta’, ‘Burial’, ‘Feel A Vibe’ and the newly released ‘Whine For Me’ featuring Japanese superstar Akane. Bramma is gearing up for several stints across the Caribbean Diaspora with his first stop on October 27th at Arnos Vale Stadium in St. Vincent then onto Dominica, from there he’ll make preparations for Canada before turning his attention to Europe in the weeks ahead.
Bramma rose to prominence in the mid 2000s under the tutelage of Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor and the Big Ship recording label. He is best known for the tracks ‘Some People’ ‘It’s Whateva’ and ‘Guided By The Master.’
