Drake and Future Have Not Squashed Their Beef, Says DJ Akademiks

Akademiks: "from what I hear that is not true, that is 100% cap"

Drake and Future are nowhere near to making peace.

The two rappers were rumored to have ended their beef via a phone call, but it turns out that those rumors are false. Drake and Future were two prominent names in the rap civil war that broke out earlier this year, with the Toronto rapper becoming a villainous personality in hip hop. Despite frequently collaborating with Pluto, Drizzy found himself on the receiving end of a diss track on his album, We Don’t Trust You, with Metro Boomin.

The surprised beef eventually morphed into a 20 versus 1 battle with a legion of rappers joining forces against Drake, including Rick Ross and Kendrick Lamar. The beef spawned some of the biggest songs in hip hop this year, including Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and “Meet The Grahams.”

In the new episode of The Bigger Picture, Elliott Wilson shared that he heard from good “authority” that the What a Time to Be Alive collaborators squashed their beef after talking on the phone. “I have it on good authority that Drake and Future have at least gotten on the phone and resolved their differences,” Wilson said.

Wilson added that the recent tweet from Young Thug’s X/Twitter account was the catalyst for the truce between the two rappers. “@Drake @1future @MetroBoomin we all bruddas. Music ain’t the same without us collabin,” Thug wrote. Wilson added, “I think that helped the energy when Future reposted it.”

Another hip-hop journalist, DJ Akademiks, who has built a reputation for being the Drake whisperer, is now disputing the claims made by Elliott Wilson. “I have spoken to extremely credible sources on both sides,” Akademiks said on his Livestream on Friday (November 1). “And Drake and Future have not been on the phone. So not too sure who gave Elliott Wilson the authority to say this, but from what I hear that is not true, that is 100% cap.”

Akademiks pointed out that neither Drake nor Future have commented on the reports or what Elliot Wilson said about them squashing their beef, which cast more doubts about how true it is. “Just letting you know that while this sounded great, and that all the media outlets have reprinted it, there’s a reason Drake hasn’t commented and Future hasn’t commented,” Akademiks continues. “Cuz it ain’t true, okay? Doesn’t mean it won’t happen in the future. That doesn’t mean I don’t personally want it to happen, and I think every fan does want it to happen. But from what I’m hearing at this moment, that reconciliation has not completely occurred if it’s gonna occur.”
