Drake can’t catch a break from fans on social media.
The Toronto rapper has suffered one of the biggest declines in his career over the past few weeks after falling off the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time in years. Drake is now at the receiving end of online trolling after sharing a photo of himself donning a bold new hairstyle and a next-level fit. The selfie has since gone viral but not because fans think Drizzy is a fashion icon. Quite the opposite.
Drake shared the mirror selfie on his Instagram Story on Wednesday when he also shared several other images of himself wearing a long-sleeved sweater shirt from his Nocta collection. “Drake I be trying to defend you but this hairstyle and this fit is making it very hard,” one female fan wrote while commenting on the rapper’s ponytail. “Drizzy in her Sassy ninja era. Why is he looking like he about to go to a Diddy party. All he needs now is a lollipop smh.”
Luckily for Drake, he has developed a thick skin after being one of the most famous rappers in the game over the last decade or more. The OVO chief isn’t new to social media trolling as he went from being called a soft rapper to being hit with allegations about dating young girls which the Kendrick Lamar beef only exacerbates.
Additionally, Drake always switches up his style without worrying about what anyone might think. Last year he debuted a new hairstyle where he seemingly gelled his hair and put colorful clips in it leading up to the release of his album, For All The Dogs. Perhaps his new hairstyle is hinting to his fans that he is getting ready for his new era in music and is about to drop something new for the listening ears.
Drake was previously hit with hair jokes after Pusha T released his “Story Of Adidon” diss track in 2015. Pusha accused the Canadian rapper of not being black enough to get waves in his hair. It’s safe to say that Drake is not new to hair jokes.
