PARTYNEXTDOOR sent his fans into a frenzy on Tuesday with just one word, FRIDAY.
It wasn’t very long ago that the conversation on social media surrounded PARTYNEXTDOOR and what seemed to be his hiatus. While PND fans were vehemently insisting on new music from the Canadian singer-songwriter, it seems he was in the studio all along. Recently Summer Walker unveiled her masterpiece album “Over It,” which features artistes like Drake, Bryson Tiller, Jhené Aiko, 6BLACK, and more. One of the album’s top tracks, “Just Might,” features PARTYNEXTDOOR. It was a very welcomed surprise for fans to hear new PND vocals on a track.
The singer intrigued our interest even more, this morning when he took to social media to deliver a cryptic message. Sharing a photo of himself in some creative lighting, PARTYNEXTDOOR wrote, “Friday,” on his Instagram, causing much speculation.
The first of the many possible theories is, of course, that the “Not Nice” singer is dropping new music. Since he never actually confirmed this with a tracklist, an album cover, or even a title, we have to disclaim that it’s still just speculation, and we’re still not certain what exactly to expect here. However, it’s safe to assume that PND has compiled a whole project by now based on his 2-year hiatus and him often hinting that he’s cooking up in the studio. Earlier this year in March, PND teased some new music with Bajan singer Rihanna. I’d say it was only a matter of time before he dropped some solo music based on his latest appearances.
PARTYNEXTDOOR was the first artist Drake signed to OVO Sound in 2013, and he later released his EPs Partynextdoor and Partynextdoor2, which did exceptionally well. Drake commented on PARTYNEXTDOOR’s vague announcement on Instagram with a ton of freezing emojis and newspapers. We’re still trying to translate, but in the meantime, Friday is just around the corner, and it looks like a beast is about to come out of hibernation.
