TJ Records is bringing back our favorite dancehall juggling with his new project, “Traffic Riddim.”
Dancehall in recent years has seen a decline in the riddim juggling tradition as more artists shift to recording singles on their own beats. These days we see more artists are doing more and more singles or are on beats along with their crew/label mates. Linton “TJ” White, the producer behind a lot of Vybz Kartel hits and head of TJ records, has managed to assemble a collection of dancehall heavyweights to spit fire on his new beat “Traffic.”
You will find names like Vybz Kartel, Masicka, Govana, Popcaan, DeMarco and Christopher Martin. The star-studded line up didn’t disappoint. I am sure Masicka was aiming to be the best on the beat and so was Govana, not to mention Vybz Kartel and Popcaan mindset towards dominating riddim productions.
Point is riddims, which feature more than a few top artists, tend to bring the best out of them. Dancehall has always been a competition hence its improvement and nonstop evolution.
Big up TJ for putting this project together. It’s evident that the veteran producer is one of the best in the industry. He has a vast catalog of Kartel Hits from 2010 until today and is now producing hits for the likes of Spice, Masicka, Popcaan, Tommy Lee Sparta, among others.
As a fan of dancehall, I would love to see more projects featuring all the top acts.
