21 Savage Could Avoid Deportation ICE Dismissed Aggravated Felony Charge

21 Savage is one step closer to avoiding deportation.

A day after rapper 21 Savage was released from jail, ICE moved to dismiss the 2014 felony charge against him. 21, whose real name is She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, is currently at home with his family while his attorneys work overtime to sort out his legal troubles. At the time of his arrest, ICE was very clear about its intentions to deport the British born rapper back to the UK.

Despise dropping the felony, 21 Savage could still face deportation on the issue of his expired visa. In 2017, he filed documents to adjust his status which is currently still pending. ICE has reportedly shifted its focus to his expired visa ahead of his immigration court hearing.

Charles Kuck, managing partner of Kuck Baxter Immigration, told Buzzfeed that 21 Savage came to the United States legally at the age of seven and overstayed his visa while he was still a minor.

“I think this case is emblematic of a lot of cases where people are detained for not correct reasons, but they don’t always have resources to fight the system,” Kuck said. “This case is very emblematic of what happens in immigration court and detention.”

Savage released a statement following his released thanking his fans for their support. The rapper was released on bail on Tuesday for an undisclosed sum.
