VP Records executive Joel Chin shot and killed last night at his home in Stony Hill.
According to police report, Chin was shot several times after he was exiting his car at his St. Andrew Home at approximately 10:45 pm.
Residents heard several explosions and called police officers who found the producer suffering from gunshot wounds.
Chin, 35, is the grandson of VP Records founder Vincent Chin and the son of renown Reggae producer Clive Chin.
VP Records has expressed sadness at the passing Chin. In a message posted on VP website, the company said:
“Joel literally grew up in the Reggae business and put his vast knowledge and connections at the service of the music he loved passionately.”
Adding,
“Joel’s signings helped VP Records become the largest Reggae label in the world and bring Reggae into the mainstream music market culminating with Sean Paul’s ‘Dutty Rock’ album which sold over seven million units worldwide,” the website also said.
