Ziggy Marley and Devin Di Dakta are among six names vying for the 2017 Grammy for Best Reggae Album.
The Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles yesterday and the reggae category have a lot of folks talking. Marley is nominated for his self-titled album, dancehall newcomer Devin Di Dakta and J.L are nominated for the album “Sly & Robbie Presents… Reggae For Her,” J Boog also got a nod for his project “Rose Petals,” Raging Fyah for “Everlasting,” Rebelution for “Falling Into Place,” and Virginia based reggae group SOJA won a nomination for their effort “SOJA: Live In Virginia.”
Beyonce leads the nominees with 9 nominations while her rival Rihanna, Drake and Kanye West each got 8 nominations. Queen Bey is nominated in some of the major categories of the Grammys including Album of the Year (Lemonade), Record of the Year (Formation), and Song of the Year (Formation).
