Legendary Drummer Bunny Williams is dead.
The acclaimed reggae and rock steady drummer passed away last week Thursday (November 17, 2016) at the age of 79.
According to his daughter Keisha Marie Williams, Bunny, whose real name is Hector Williams, was admitted at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay for around two weeks where he was receiving kidney treatment.
Bunny Williams rose to fame in the late 1960s starting out as a protege of Skatalites drummer Lloyd Knibb. He then made his name for himself working with the likes of Alton Ellis on his classic single “Girl I’ve Got A Date” and with Dawn Penn on “No No No.”
Williams was honored back in July by the Tribute To The Greats organization for his contribution to Jamaican music. His death is the latest among a list of Jamaican music icons to pass away over recent months.
