DaBaby confirms that he has a new collaboration with Lil Wayne in the works.
DaBaby is one of those new artistes that just keeps soaring. The “Suge” rapper is making the most of 2019 before it ends by teasing fans with some hot new music to come. Just last week, the 27-year-old, who dropped his debut studio album Baby on Baby in March, announced that he recently signed a new record deal with Universal Music.
“A talented artist and songwriter, DaBaby has garnered hundreds of millions of streams and amassed a huge global fanbase,” Universal chairman and CEO, Jody Gerson, said in a statement. “With support from myself, our A&R team and Interscope Records, UMPG’s Ari Gelaw [UMPG A&R manager] developed a close relationship with DaBaby and South Coast Music Group to build this exciting partnership. We are looking forward to many great years of success with DaBaby.”
Under the new deal, Universal is set to handle the global publishing of DaBaby’s music. Included in that upcoming new music will soon be a collaboration with Lil Wayne.
“I got a song with Lil Wayne. That was amazing so I’m good, but there’s a whole bunch of other people I want to work with,” the North Carolina rapper revealed during an interview with Power 104.5 The Beat. DaBaby also disclosed that Weezy’s people had been the ones to reach out. “They sent me a record and it’s a big record too,” he teased.
The collaboration is a dream come true for DaBaby, who grew up while the “Lollipop” rapper was in his peak.
“That’s the [Greatest Of All Time] in my era, that’s the goat. That’s probably who I was most influenced by music wise growing up,” he said.
DaBaby sadly did not hint at a timeframe for the collaboration, but you can be sure you’ll hear about it here as soon as it drops.
