Will Smith launching limited line athletic clothing inspired by The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Anyone who watches the re-runs can tell you, The Fresh Prince never gets old. It seems superstar Will Smith is capitalizing on the timelessness of his hit sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, by releasing a brand-new clothing line only available until October 14th. The line features athletic attire and accessories repping Bel-Air Academy, the fictional private school attended by Will and his cousin Carlton in the classic television show. Will released a promo video on his Instagram showing him model his new products with that famous Fresh Prince combo of swag and humor.
The Bel-Air Athletics line is the second clothing launch out of Westbrook Inc., a holding company Smith established with his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith and collaborators Miguel Melendez and Kosaku Yada. The company is also behind Jada’s successful talk show “Red Table Talk” featuring their daughter, Willow Smith, and Pinkett’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones.
Earlier this year, Will announced a 72-hour sale of some limited-edition Fresh Prince merch, and it seems those products may have inspired the movie star to take his throwback clothing ideas to the next level. Smith has had his hands in fashion in other ways as well recently, appearing in campaigns for Moncler’s “Genius is Born Crazy” clothing line.
For fans looking to come up on some fresh athletic gear, the Bel-Air line features 26 pieces including graphic tees, athletic shorts, socks, hats, and even a Fresh Prince style basketball. The highlight of the collection is a Bel-Air Academy sweat suit featuring a reversable paisley-lined jacket, paying homage to Smith’s classic act of rebellion when he turned his school jacket inside-out.
The suit is modeled by Will himself in his promo video, and make no mistake, the look is as fresh as ever. The suit jacket alone runs $95, and the products will no longer be available after October 14th. Check out Will’s promo below.
